Conical Springs
A conical spring, also known as a 'tapered spring', features a larger diameter at one end, tapering down as it spirals. This change in diameter results in a cone shape. Conical springs, categorized as nonlinear springs in terms of load and rate, lack a consistent rate of compression. With varying diameters along their length, they exert nonlinear force; smaller outer diameters yield greater force while larger diameters yield less force. Consequently, conical springs find widespread use in electrical contacts like push buttons and battery contacts, as well as serving as integral components in numerous automobile suspension systems.
